The theory of using "I" statements instead of "you" statements is a well-reasoned one, but it's predicated on the assumption that people care about what you feel. If someone has no problems giving you problems or grief, telling them how you feel troubled or unhappy, if anything, is going to invite others to scream at you to get over yourself. It's an attitude adjustment nobody asked for.
