Generalising is one of those weird things that everybody does and everybody else does and everybody can't stand everybody else doing. That much I get - but it makes no sense to me to blanket call generalising "bad". What generalising means is "I haven't been presented with enough evidence to the contrary" which may or may not also include an "I wasn't asking to be proven wrong".
