This episode is a mash-up of experiences I had during my time at different Higher Education establishments, as indeed is this whole story. My first day at college featured a gathering of students in my hall of residence and the decor wasn't that dissimilar. The angry academic is based on a Proctor from a different college I attended. The rest is pure imagination!
