Did you know most snails hatch from eggs?! In fact, the eggs of the largest terrestrial snail, the Giant African Land Snail (depicted), are about as big as the smallest bird eggs belonging to the Bee Hummingbird. And just like bird eggs, they are calcium-rich. Upon hatching, baby snails will often consume their own eggs to aid in their shell development.
