A little peek into history with Alixander, who had quite a lot of anxiety about this gate and how his ancestors were a wee bit--execution-y. Did he want this gate to pop out a human that he has to devote himself to? Hard to say. But hey at least Alixander is long dead so he doesn't have to worry about it anymore...right? Right?
