The Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) hang, unlike other bag hanging techniques, does not rely on tension of the anchored rope to keep your bag aloft, but rather a toggle partway up. If something happens to your rope anchor at ground level (animal interference or other), your bag still won't fall: this is why the PCT is considered one of the best bag hangs.
