I remember seeing anime characters rollerblading and thinking it looked SO COOL. Like Pia, I could never replicate it. Dani was originally supposed to hold something dangerous/silly (a sword or a hammer), yet I felt those things wouldn’t be as meaningful to her. I also like to imagine that the nuclear accident happened in an alternate timeline, before the I-Pod/smartphone/streaming service boom.
