So we learn the symbolism behind Liliana's brooch this week, handed down to her by her mother on her death bed (see the Liliana Colburn chapter if you missed it). The pelican in her piety is a real symbol from Christianity that I hadn't heard of until I was writing this story, I came across it in one of my many late night research sessions.
