March 1st symbolizes the first day of Spring in Romania. In the past, the giving of a red and white string was done by a man to his wife or girlfriend, which she would wear proudly on her chest. However, the holiday has changed and evolved and nowadays it's about giving a Martisor (the red and white string talisman) to anyone you hold dear, be it friends, family and loved ones. We'll be back soon!
