These pages are from Alice's perspective so things are warped a bit. Ball is pretty scary in Purgatory. I know we follow him around so the audience is more inclined to think he's cute but, he's larger than most in purgatory, is strong as hell, fast and is very persistent and has a HUGE body count. He's intimidating. Alice has every right to not feel safe around him.
