Nathan successfully dispels the illusion... The wheelock pistol in the last frame are known to have existed since 1550, perhaps sooner. Its fired not using a smoking match but a spring tension wheel that when spun scrapped a flint to produce sparks, igniting the powder to fire the bullet. Hence it was a favorite of assasins, as it could be cocked and hidden under a cloak, ready to fire.
