I don't know if every American child learned this bit of US history (I'm sure you non-Americans are completely lost) but when I was a kid, teachers and kids' media just loved hyping up this non-story as one of history's big mysteries. And this comic is literally the whole story. You can look it up: colonists are gone, they wrote down where they went, no one checked. 9-year-old me was baffled too.
