Wow! 2021 has been a big year for WEBTOON CANVAS. After seeing everything that our creators have achieved this year, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate our creators as we close out the year!
We are very excited to announce the 2021 WEBTOON CANVAS Awards, an end of year celebration featuring a total of 11 categories!
2021 WEBTOON CANVAS Awards Categories
Outstanding ‘Chilling’ Series
The most read thriller, horror, zombies, crime/mystery series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Comedy’ Series
The most read comedy series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Drama’ Series
The most read drama series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Epic Adventure’ Series
The most read sci-fi, supernatural, post-apocalyptic series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Fantasy’ Series
The most read fantasy series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Living & Learning’ Series
The most read heartwarming, school, all ages, animals, historical, informative, inspirational, short story series.
Outstanding ‘Power Within’ Series
The most read action, sports, superhero series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Romance’ Series
The most read romance series in 2021.
Outstanding ‘Slice-of-Life' Series
The most read slice-of-life series in 2021.
Star of 2021
Most read series launched in 2021.
Hidden Gems
A collection of hidden gems that launched before January 2021 and are hand-selected by the WEBTOON CANVAS Team. Select series for these categories have been extensively reviewed and deemed to be on par in art and story with the top series on WEBTOON CANVAS.
Each awards category, with the exception of the “Star of 2021” and “Hidden Gem,” will feature 20 of the most-read series based on page views collected between January 1st, 2021 and October 1st, 2021 for nomination within that specific category. The “Star of 2021” category will feature the 20 most read series overall that launched in 2021 for nomination.
2021 WEBTOON CANVAS Awards Nomination Guidelines
Nomination Guidelines for Chilling, Comedy, Drama, Epic Adventure, Fantasy, Living & Learning, Power Within, Romance, Slice-of-Life, Star of 2021:
• You can only nominate one series in each category. Please keep in mind that you are unable to change your nominations once you submit them.
• If you want to nominate a series outside of the 20 nominees provided, you can select ‘other’ and write-in your choice. Please keep in mind that any series you choose to nominate must adhere to WEBTOON’s Community Policy and Uploading Guidelines to be counted toward the results. • If a creator or creative team has multiple series nominated via, only the series with the highest number of nominations will proceed to the user voting stage.
• Creators that have a concluded, ongoing, and/or upcoming WEBTOON ORIGINALS series (including WEBTOON-produced series) are not eligible for nomination.
• Creators CANNOT nominate themselves. If you nominate yourself, you will automatically be disqualified from the awards.
• Most importantly, please be respectful to all creators and fans participating in the awards.
The “Hidden Gems” category will have its own set of nomination guidelines. This section of the CANVAS Awards has been added this year to showcase the immense talent of smaller creators on CANVAS. Even if your series was not selected for this year’s awards, please know we see your potential and we can’t wait to highlight you in future events!
Nomination Guidelines for Hidden Gems:
• You can nominate series that have less than 10k subscribers before October 18th KST.
• You can only nominate one series in each category. Please keep in mind that you are unable to change your nominations once you submit them.
• If you want to nominate a series outside of the 20 nominees provided, you can select ‘other’ and write-in your choice. Please keep in mind that any series you choose to nominate must adhere to WEBTOON Community Policy and Uploading Guidelines to be counted toward the results. Since there are thousands of series on CANVAS and we cannot open the nomination opportunity to all series, we have added a write-in section for each category. If you do not see a series you would like to nominate on the list, please feel free to add it here. Please keep in mind that a series submitted by write-in would still need to be within the top 4, or within the top 8 for the “Hidden Gems” category, submissions in order to make it to the voting round.

The nomination period starts October 20th at 6PM and ends October 31st at 6PM PDT.
The top 4 nominated series per category and top 8 nominated series for ‘Hidden Gems’ will be announced November 29th 6PM PST and available for voting December 6th at 6PM PST through December 12th at 6PM PST.
The series with the most votes for our first 10 categories, and the 3 series with the most votes for our ‘Hidden Gems’ category, will be announced on January 3rd, 2022, during CANVAS Week!
