Rakim’s Redesign (PT 2/2)

So back to the drawing board. It was sort of like those 2000s flash games where I had Rakim’s bald head and sketched some hairstyles. Some long, some short, some spiky, some less. But at the end of the day, it’s two cartoon characters with spiky black hair. Same thing basically.

So who was the saviour for this dilemma? Footy legend David Beckham. Specifically with his slicked back hair and that iconic hairband.

And that’s all I needed. A simple hairband, effectively keeping Rakim looking just like his twin, but that small accessory that made all the difference.

I haven’t drawn the “new” Rakim much yet, but here’s a few panels with his updated design. I personally like this style much better, and I’m happy that Becks had come out of retirement to save the day. Although he was shafted out of knighthood, he’ll always be remembered as a hero in the legacy of Majid.
