Here are some clarifications for the Host squad:
Ray is a precious perfect soul. His will to live was so strong that the demon was able to latch onto him and pull him down. Normally, compatibility with a demon is related to the same type of sin they represent. Ray never truly sinned so he was up for grabs for any demon that was powerful enough to catch his soul. Because Ray was on the precipice of life and death, the demon was able to cuck all the angels before they were able to take Ray to heaven.

You can view this as Ray being very lucky or unlucky. The demon feels super lucky about all this. 😈
