The Hawkins family were normal until Mrs. Hawkins was killed. Caroline Hawkins became a detective, hoping to find her mother's killer and prevent more violence, while her twin sister, Catherine, decided to pursue a career as a teacher. Meanwhile, their younger sister, Sara, decided not to go to college and instead spent six months in prison and made it out on parole. Their coping mechanisms are... quite different.
