The hint was in Cooper and Gill's last name, but they are in fact Mamma Orso Morte's adopted children. (which is why Mamma Orso suspected that Meredith was with the cops when she first met her.) While Meredith and Djali aren't formally adopted into the Gravekeeper's tribe, that doesn't mean Gill can't be jealous of Djali (despite the fact Mamma Orso doesn't like Djali either)
