I think a good mindset to have would be, if one didn't exist, or wasn't mature enough to understand the state of society at the time of that works creation, one probably shouldn't take it so seriously. One should learn from the past, be mindful of it, but without being offended by it. I think that approach would help people let go of a lot of stress/anger they carry around. Just a thought.
