When I came up with the idea of American Fables, 3 things came to mind: 1) This anthology series that would serve as a launchpad for new series, the way that Action Comics no. 1 introduced Superman and Amazing Fantasy #15 featured the origin of Spider-Man. But beyond that, the stories don’t necessarily have to be solely about super-heroes. I want to play in different genres. 2) The anthology would feature stories about the under-represented America. I want use a different face of America, while still uniquely American, and create new fables and myths that connect to the greater global culture. 3) I have a great desire to collaborate with my friends. And the comic book medium is a way for us to create stories without budget restrictions and an unlimited imagination. Beyond the comic book medium, American Fables is intended to also become a Black Mirror/ Twilight Zone-type of series for Television or Streaming.
