A bit of a heavy episode, but at least we know why he is a jerk. Also that glowing moss is fire moss. The dragons have to lay their eggs on it to keep them warm. It only grows on the mountainside. I wanted to include this somehow in the comic but couldn't think of how. So I explained it here lol.
