Jenise dreams of becoming one of the greatest warriors in Tyr. There's only one problem: She doesn't have anyone to train her! After her grandfather dies, Jenise heads south to join the army and train as a mighty warrior. On her journey, she meets Peter, a competent fighter and erstwhile prince with questionable manners and a dark past. Peter offers to escort Jenise to Auphretes, and together they set out on a journey across a land on the brink of war and ruled by a magic called Alchemy.
