It's the year 1893 and Chicago is playing host to the greatest event the world has ever seen - The World's Fair. As the young city prepares to receive the crowds, Marie hopes to escape the influence of her controlling mother who wants her to marry. The Fair will give her the perfect opportunity to find her own place in the world. Across the sea, a young man is picked to represent his country on the international stage for the first time.
