"The Pariah" portrays the terror inflicted by Shining Path (Sendero Luminoso), a Maoist guerrilla group led by Abimael Guzmán ("President Gonzalo"), which used violence, forced recruitment, and executions to spread its ideology. Caught between the guerrillas and the military, innocent rural communities suffered the brutal consequences.
