The world parishes during ww3, which is started due to mind control tech usage. The Markaz federation, undertakes an exodus to a terraformed mars. Wormhole technology has been developed and this is used to explore the galaxy. The markaziens make first contact with the tengiens a peaceful alien race. Together they realize FTL travel, however during the maiden voyage, the FTL energy signature attracts the attention of hostile aliens, and things escalate.
