After the Duke and Duchess of Lexic's passing, their fourteen-year-old daughter, Etoile, is left as the Duchess of Lexic. Even with the arrival of her uncle to help her with the transition until she's married off, Etoile is overcome with grief. Many decisions, good and bad, lead to the evolution of the kingdom, and Etoile is left creating the future of her land.
