Before the blood moon of Warcester came a different supernatural struggle--wherein a secretive government institute is on the hunt for two of their fleeing runaways. Victor Calloway, an ex-criminal, breaks away from the institute and rescues a young girl from their captivity--both of them affected by the institute's bizarre experimentation--and they must now begin completely anew, assimilating to society and adapting to their new abilities. But they haven't outrun their past just yet.
