Astronaut Victoria Petrov has just finished her 10 year journey aboard the USS Speculator. Her destination is an isolated cluster of planets, home to a myriad of alien species. When news of her expedition reaches Earth, a bureaucrat must decide whether the mission's status will reach the public, or be expunged.
