The Rocky Roads Private Detective series is a collection of illustrated cartoon stories featuring characters inspired by the comics and cartoons of the 1950's. That style portrays animals in human roles with the main character Detective Rocky Roads depicted as a dog of uncertain origin. His chief cohort is an enigmatic bird like creature named Ellsworth. Drawn only in black and white, the series is strongly influenced by Film Noir and the tough Private Eye genre of the 40's and 50's.
