The kingdom of Camelot is in disarray due to the failure of the Council of Magi. Merlin is trying to find an heir to the throne. When he sees Arthur running from a group of guards because he stole a piece of bread, Merlin deems him and his orphan friends worthy to complete the trials of Excalibur. If they succeed, they can yield ultimate power, if they fail, the kingdom of Camelot might never be saved.
