The pen was invented thousands of years ago. It started from the reed plant, whose hollow stems where filled with writing fluid and its ends were cut into a point. Since then, the pen has evolved from reed, to the quill and fountain pen, and to the modern ball point pen. This simple piece of technology is used to create art and literary works, to impart knowledge and information, and to share, communicate, and convey thoughts and feelings.
