Slacker Serena Shi is supposed to use summer vacation to work on college applications, but her boring summer in China is upended when she accidentally awakens a shape-shifting snake spirit from an enchanted sleep. He begs her to help him recover his memories and powers with the promise of paying her back, but Serena doesn't think she needs anything from a snake.
