Olwen Powell, a young prodigy, inherits powers from the late Sojourner of Sanction. He meets Valerié, whose family was also poisoned, and embarks on a quest to save her from the same fate. Along the way, Olwen uncovers a plot led by the Dweller of Holes, who forces Miyu, the Sojourner of Scorn, to create drugs. Olwen, with his allies, must stop the Dweller and save the mangroves while navigating a forbidden relationship with Valerié.
