Set in a region devoid of human presence for an extended period, the narrative unfolds in a world where dogs have evolved into a semi-intelligent society. In book 1, we mainly experience Tulpi's development after she teams up with the reserved borzoi Motte. Tulpi initially just wants to find her home village, while Motte tries to escape her past.
