The grim reaper wasn't always the "grim reaper" he used to be a nice guy, someone so many people loved. Until he died, and he was taken in by Satan himself because of his nature. He was like a father to him, though he did create a deal for the grim reaper to become human once again. To be reborn, to reincarnate as a human.
