Glaucus has spent most of his life in the darkest part of the world, the only light he ever sees being the occasional glowing crystals scattered along the sea floor. Being the only sea creature in the kingdom that is of mixed blood, he has never been able to go to where the sun touches. Believing Glaucus to be cursed, his family had told him that if he were to ever go to the surface all would cease to exist.
