Short and simple: hairy man intends to harness the elements through subjugation. Whether said goals are 'good' or 'evil' is anyone's guess. In this process, he thinks out loud about the purpose of all the elements and where they align from his perspective with the 'world' itself; as if he's a juror of sorts... Not really.
