safiyyah irving, 23 years old, decides to spend the summer in the outbacks of a mysterious town to find some material for her photojournalism project, only to find that the town is much stranger than she could possibly imagine. trying to adapt to her weird surroundings, she senses there is something much stranger going on in the endless nature that surrounds her, and in doing so meets another young woman who feels the same way.
