Humankind, with the advent of piloted robots called Mobile Machines (M.M.s), attempts to defend itself from an impending alien threat. A brutish Ace Pilot wrecks his M.M. and is forced to work with a genius but overzealous engineer who's quick to put her work before herself. This is the story of the two lonely souls finding company and peace with one another in the midst of a galactic war.
