Lamina is a peaceful island, inhabited by Laminas- juvinile humans that eventually becomes animal headed humans. It would have remained peaceful if not for Lamina-eating 'Freaks' appearing out from nowhere. Toru have not yet turned into an adult Lamina when she first encountered a Freak. Prepared to hunt this vermin down, Toru would have never thought this encounter will change her life forever.
