The child was born with a curious mark that spread across his shoulder blades and back. As time passed, the mark seemed to darken and took shape of a majestic bird in ascension. Curiouser was that it is also his namesake, which meant "firebird", a creature of Slavic folklore, and of great significance he has yet to know.
