On the way to a grand ball, Brooke reassures Gwen with tender words that reveal their growing bond. At the ballroom, they share a fleeting dance, a moment of peace in a world of war. But when Brooke is summoned to the “other side,” their night unravels. Angels descend in fiery wrath and though Brooke fights with unmatched strength, he senses something wrong—the Archangel only watches. Returning too late, he finds Gwen taken hostage. Before his eyes, her mask shatters and she collapses, lifeless.
