We live in a world where everybody lives in fear of dying. We were cursed by the one who feeds off souls. Our demons which are depression, addiction, cutting, killing... are all turned into physical beings that are haunting us until we give in to the torture. The world has fallen apart because of this, and all that is left are us humans who haven't given up fighting.
