You must have felt this before, like falling down from someplace high or running away from a rabid dog chasing you and it feels so real that you wouldn't realize that you had been dreaming this whole time. Imagine you are in such a situation and at that moment, the thought that 'you are dreaming' wouldn't cross your mind. You would never think of that until the end till where you fall down and hit the ground or the dog bites you. So until the very end you would never know if its a dream or real.
