Emory is a young person, starting in their 8th year of life. She has a best friend named Amari and they meet a few new people along the way. Emory struggles with issues growing up, like her parents fighting and sometimes getting physical. They explore their identity through a span of 13 years. They process hard emotions like depression and the feeling of being the protector of their mom. Emory goes through their teenage years in this story, dealing with the emotions that come with those ages.
