The world is in the midst of a technological revolution, the environment is devastated, conflicts abound and society barely persists. People who receive cybernetic modifications are known as augmented. A boy who received a nanomachine vaccine lives in the ruins of where his hometown once stood, surviving the wasteland and resenting the technology that caused that situation.
