For perspective, Dalton destroying a telephone and gramaphone is like someone smashing your PlayStation 5 and setting your bed on fire. Both of these were considered *luxury* items in the 40's and most people just used payphones waiting on the streets to make phone calls and were encouraged to keep their conversations short in consideration of other people waiting to use them!
