Inspired by my grandmother Juping’s vintage photographs and oral recollections, this figurine series reconstructs her everyday garments—crafted from hand-cut, collaged, and stitched coarse cloth to evoke the texture and color of an era marked by economic hardship. Facial features, hairstyles, and shoes are meticulously sculpted in clay, including separate clay “wig” pieces.
