Claire is the older sister. The man in the background is their father, the woman is the father's older sister. Lots of languages have different words for mum's sister vs dad's sister but English is somewhat lacking. I mean, good on you for not discriminating against which side of the family someone is on, but for PLOT PURPOSES it is important to know!
