Cassie, the deity tasked with protecting checkers pieces, has been alone in her cave as long as she can remember. She sits there day in and day out gathering and protecting her pieces, cookies she says, every once in a while enchanting things for the mortals. She was perfectly content to guard her cookies, rarely leaving her cave until an infuriating mortal girl wandered in, she’s a disturbance in Cassie’s predictable existence and while she’d never admit it, she’s begun to enjoy the change.
