Based on something that would happen to me a lot when I lived by myself. Turns out drying clothes and washing cars make for much better (and more effective) offerings to our local rain god, Tlaloc. One time we were facing a terrible fire in the nearby mountains, and I jokingly told my classmates, "I should wash my car to summon the rains to put it out!" I did so and... guess what happened.
